CURRICU LAR ENGLISH English,-one the most important sub- jects, is given to all students for four years. During the freshmen year they are taught the fundamentals of English gram- mar. Sophomores take up grammar and world literature, juniors study grammar and American literature: and seniors learn English literature along with gram- mar. Compositions, book reports, talks, and parliamentary procedure are also part of English. Speech and public speaking courses are offered students to help them over- come shyness, and to express themselves clearly. mmf. D fu QQ, QT? img W v . HISTORY History is a required subject for all stu- dents. The first year students study citizen- ship and government affairs. Sophomores take up World history which covers the story of civilization from Man's early be- ginnings to the present time, juniors study American history, the story of the United States, past and present. In the senior year, students investigate problems in American government. Research is an important part of social studies. Seniors display their project on Propaganda.

Pa rents' Night On November lO, l955. Waipahu High School students and P. T. A. Members got together to plan and carry out the most successful Parents' Night ever to be held. A contest was held to see which homeroom had the most parents at- tending the affair, The prize was the privilege of going to lunch on the first bell for one quarter and room 21 won. The study of plants and animals, which also include the organs and functions of the human body, is Biology. Then there is Chemistry which deals with matter of the universe and the changes in its composition. The study of Physics deals with matter and energy. A solid foundation in fundamentals of science gives the students the necessary back- ground for future study. Newton's third law of motion. knows.
