SCHOLASTIC CLUB Education of the students is always the prime purpose of any high school. We of Wahoo feel that the scholastic ability of the students should be given an award, just as any other outstanding achievement is shown recognition. In order to earn a letter in the club, one must maintain a 3.5 average over a period of the second semester of one year, and the first semester of the following year. These students are not only noted for their scholastic ability, but also for their participation in extra-curricular activities about the school during the year. Wahoo is one of the first high schools in Nebraska to organize such a club, and the members of our school and the community are very proud to have such a fine example of what diligent learning and hard work can produce. 29

SPANISH CLUB President—Jim Sanderson Vice-President—Julie Schmidt Secretary—Lyle Person (not pictured) Treasurer—Jean Larson Our world of today is composed of many different kinds and types of people, each speaking a language of their own. Through the study of ones language we are able to discover a great deal about his life, customs, and ideas. Spanish festivities were observed throughout the year. The Spanish Club sponsored a masquerade party and dance and during Christmas time, celebrated the breaking of the Pinata. In this way el Circulo de Espanol was able to further the understanding of people from other lands. I 30
