MARCHING BAND The marching band of 1958-59 had an extremely busy season. Their first showing was before school opened in the Saunders County Fair Parade. The band competed in the Aksarben Marching Band Contest. Preparation for this event was underway when school opened. Rehearsals were held from seven until nine every morning; and several evening practices were also scheduled. The band received a rating of excellent. In October they went to Grand Island to participate in die Harvest of Harmoney. A superior rating and a banner were given to them for die afternoon's marching and playing performance. They also won the trophy for the best marching band in the parade in Class B. That same month they went to Band Day in Lincoln. They marched in the parade in die morning and participated in the half-time show at the Nebraska University football game in the afternoon. The season was topped by getting a superior rating in the State Band Contest at Pershing Auditorium in Lincoln. A beautiful trophy was awarded for this performance.
