CHORUS During the first week of September, tryouts were held for anyone in high school interested in the mixed chorus. Fifty-one students were selected by the director, Miss Diffey, for balance in the soprano, alto, tenor, and bass sections. The chorus participated in the Educational Week program presented in the high school. The group was also host to Ashland, David City, Hooper, North Bend, and Valley at the Choral Clinic on January 28. The guest director was Leonard Paulson from Nebraska Wesleyan University. Officers elected were: Robert Cook, President; Debbie Wallace, Vice President; Mary Jane Patton, Secretary; and Robert Valdez, Treasurer. GIRLS’ GLEE Forty-six sophomore, junior, and senior girls made up the Wahoo High School Girls' Glee Club. The girls met every Tuesday and Thursday for rehearsals and had Miss Shirley Diffey as their director. The girls presented two numbers at the annual Christmas program. They also sang for various activities, including the pre-contest concert and the district contest. NOT IN PICTURE: Kathy Rezac Lorna Peglow Janie Copperstone BOYS’ GLEE The Boys' Glee consisted of 30 sophomore, junior, and senior boys. Each member is required to make one or more scientific projects. However, the club is not all work and no play. The club members enjoy field trips, and this year they sponsored a Science Fair. On November 10th of this year an audience of about 500 people watched with interest the second Science Fair in the history of the school. The floor of the entire gymnasium was filled with over 50 different projects. The projects ranged from model airplanes to the conductivity of water. Many of the items were made by Science Club members and Chemistry and Physics students. National Education Week fell on the same date as the Science Fair; therefore, the speech department and the chorus combined to give a fine pageant well-suited for the national theme. Entitled The Root and the Flower. it was a dramatic presentation of the ideals of the founders of our nation. The band played several numbers including Dixie-Land Concerto and March Forth.
