CORNHUSKER BOYS’ AND GIRLS COUNTY GOVERNMENT DAY The purpose of County Government is to educate the participants in how the county government actually operates. The Wahoo American Legion Post No. 82 sponsors this activity. Caucuses were held Tuesday, November 12. The Nationalist Party met with Margaret Kudma, 1957 Girls’ Stater, as presiding officer; and the Federalist Party was led by Don McPeck, 1957 Boys' Stater. All juniors filed for the office of their choice and began their campaign. The primary elections were held Wednesday, November 13. The results of the election were posted late Friday afternoon. Those representing Wahoo at the Saunders County Government Day Wednesday, November 20, were: County Clerk, Debbie Wallace; Registrar of Deeds, Janie Copperstone; Clerk of the District Court, Julie Ecklund; County Treasurer, Joan Leitgeb; Justice of the Peace, Beverly Loukota; County Sheriff, Robert Valdez, County Attorney, Arlene Brodd; County Surveyor, Gary Copper-stone; County Assessor, Bob Cook; County Supervisors, Bonnie Brown, Marjorie Smith, Barbara Rouf, LeAnne Kasper, Sandra Lehn, Marla Clausen, and Dick Filbrandt; Veterans Affairs, John Harris; County Agent, Pat Martin; Home Extension Agent, Mary Jo McDermott; County Engineer, Dick McMaster; Director of County Assistance Linda Camp bell; County Judge, Mary Jane Patton; and County Superintendent of Schools, Suzanne Parnell.
