Student Librarians are on duty in the Library each period during the day performing such tasks as checking hooks in and out. helping students find materials, and keeping the library shelves in order. In the library classes, these students plan and make the posters and display materials for the bulletin boards and special displays; they make special studies of the organization of the library, of the outstanding reference books in the various subject fields, and of the basic library tools such as the Readers’ Guide and card catalog. They mend and repair books and periodicals; review new books being added to the library for the school paper. All of this adds up to one unit of credit per semester for the student assistants—but more important it adds immeasurably to the efficiency with which the library can be operated and serve the students. A demerit system was used this year which kept the Pep Club well organized. All members of the Pep Club, who number 74. were required to attend all home games unless they had a valid excuse. They could only miss three away games. The season was started off with a Snake Dance on September 8. the eve of the season opener with Seward. On September 13, the new members were honored at a picnic where they played various games. Following the football season, the Pep Club sponsored a dance on November 22 for the crowning of King and Queen of Sports. Mona Johnson and Larry Chelberg. A pep rally was held on each game day and skits were presentee!. Officers for the year were: Carol Hoy. President; Judith Williams. Vice-President; Laurel Carlson. Secretary; Nancy Hult, Treasurer.
