Qyllaaa iiliainrgef On September 6, 1949, eighty-six freshmen entered the halls of Wahama for the first time. THSY S0011 made a place for themselves in the school and made it known that they had big ideas and were going DIACCS- Officers elected that year were Jack Scites, president, Clinton Churchill, vice president, Patty Roush, secretaryg Tom Scally, treasurer, Marilyn Dotson was student council representative. Class advisors for the freshman year were Mrs, Mitchell and Mr, Diehl, At the very beginning the class showed that it had its share of feminine pulchritude, Patty Roush was selected Homecoming attendant and Doris Fields was chosen Valentine queen, In the first year the class had ten members in football and basketball, fourteen in the band and several in the Glee Club and minstrel. The class started out their sophomore year by electing Jack Hesson, president, Richard Athey, vice-president, Tom Scally, secretary-treasurer, Patty Roush was again chosen Homecoming attendant and Dona Ord was elected cheerleader. In the spring the class gave a party in the gym, The proceeds of this party went to the class treasury, Mr. Amick took Mrs, Mitchell's place as class advisor, Starting out their junior year with sixty-five members the class elected the following officelsz Richard Athey, president, Tom Scally, vice-presidentg Mary Lawrence, secretaryg Nellie Roach, treasurer. The student council representative was Paul Roush and Jack Hesson was elected vice-president of the student body, Dona Ord and Doris Fields were chosen cheerleaders. Dona Ord was head cheerleader. At Homecoming time Elizabeth Click was chosen homecoming attendant and their float was chosen the prettiest float in the parade, Warren Eugene Weaver was elected chapter president of the F. F.A. For their Junior Play the class chose 'The Baby Sitter a three act comedy, Those in the cast were Richard Athey, Elaine Sayre, Mary Lawrence, Paul Roush, Betty Tennent, Ray Ward, Donna Bumgarner, Carol Ann Roush, Tom Scally, lack Scites, Frank Peyton, Elizabeth Click, Carol June Roach, Shirley Lyons, Prompters were Marilyn Dotson and Betty Hoschar, In the spring the juniors entertained the seniors with the annual Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom, The theme of the prom was An Old Plantation Garden and the toastmaster was Tom Scally, Dona Ord was chosen queen of the prom, Miss Powell took Mr. Amick's place as home room advisor, This class started their senior year by electing as class officers Tom Scally, president, Mary Lawrence, Vice.. pnesidentg Elizabeth Click, secretary-treasurer. Richard Athey was elected president of the student body and Shirlee Hesson was elected student council representative. The football team was sparked by the following people from the senior class: Jack Hesson, Richard Athey Paul Roush, Ben Roush, Tom Scally, and Sam Roach. Hesson and Athey served as co-captains. Paul Roush and Richard Athey also were the mainstays on the basketball team and Tom Scally served as Statistician Three sen- iors served on the baseball team, They are Dorwin Clark, Jack Hesson, and George Oliver, At the homecoming activities Patty Roush reigned as queen while Gamer Shirley served as her attendant,
