The Division consists of Fire Control Technicians (FC's) and Gunner's Mates Missiles (GMM's). The Fire Controlmen are responsible for maintaining and operating the MK74 Fire Control System. the MK13 Weapons Direction System, and the AN SPG-39A Radar. The Gunner's Mates are responsible for maintaining and operating the MK13 MOD Guided Missile Launcher. Together, GM-Division provides the ability to search, detect, track, and engage medium range air or surface targets.

STG1 Stevens, STG1 Kassleman, LTJG Gimbel; (Not Pictured) STG3 Trevathan and STGSR Hogge. AS-Division has been led by LTJG Gimbel throughout WESTPAC 88-89. AS-Division consists of Surface-Sonar Technicians (STG's), Torpedomen (TM's) and Gunner's Mates Missiles (GMM's). The Sonar Technicians are responsible for maintaining and operating the AN SQQ-23A Sonar System and the MK 114 Underwater Battery Fire Control System. The Torpedomen are responsible for maintaining and operating the MK 32 MOD 7 Torpedo Tubes. The Gunner's Mates Missiles are responsible for maintaining and operating the MK 16 MOD 4 ASROC Launching Group. 36 Together, AS-Division searches, detects, tracks and engages any underwater threat to the WADDELL.
