Welve tried to cap- ture these moments in pictures. As rumors of consolidation were verified, that attitude of the students was reflected in their spirit, or rather, their lack of it. But as 1982 brought con- solidation closer, it became evi- dent that the students were de- termined to make the best of their last days at Waco High. Pat Wickman does her impersonation of an angel. A fun-filled, exciting Home- coming for the 1981-82 school year. During Homecoming week, the halls were filled with colorful decorations and elated students who participated in Crazy Day, Hat Day, and Tiger-tail Day. The traditional bonfire was suc- cessfully lit despite the continual rain, and the exes tea brought back some young and old Tigers of the past. During the half-time activities of the game, the moment that everyone had been anx- iously awaiting finally came when Leigh Ann Bowen was crowned Homecoming Queen. Leigh Ann, escorted by Andy Z it Karen Khoury, Karen Mynhier, and Leigh Ann Bowen are busy at work on the decorations for the gym. Evans, was presented with sophomore princess Stephanie Ferris, and juniox princess Christie Chambers. Although the game was lost to Lam- pasas 14-6, this year's Homecoming was indeed a pot of gold. .m-f'.f- Wit The seniors hustle to get their Homecoming decorations up. Theresa Kendricks came into the girls basketball program and turned it around, as opponents shuddered at the sight of her domineering phy- sique. Before leaving Waco High School, she would make a giant step in girls high school athletics. Honors received by Theresa her sophomore year included lst- Team All-District and Super Centex Honorable Mention. Her junior year she made the Super Centex lst Team and lst Team All-District. As a senior, Theresa was chosen to play in the annual Texas Hall of Fame All-Star Basketball Game. These attributes gained her an athletic scholarship to McLen- nan Community College. This was the first team since 1980. Under the direction of golf coach Jim Woods, the golfers competed in several tournaments and dis- played their Tiger Pride. The 1982 Tiger soccer team made their debut this year. They improved as the season progressed and compiled a re- cord of 1-13-l. Outstanding players included David White, Mark Whitaker, Eric Duffy and Marvin Willis. For their first year of competition, the team made their mark in the soccer fields. These girls attended camp at Tarlet on State University in June. They received one Superior Star Squad award, one Superi- or rating, two Excellent ribbons, and a Spirit Stick.
