PLAY On Stage The house lights dim. The audience is hushed as the music of 17th century France lightly dances upon the air. In a moment the curtains will rise upon the WHS drama departments production of Moliere's com- edy The Imaginary Invalid. But wait! Let us leave the curtains closed a while longer to linger yet on the moments leading up to this most magical of moments. There was the first read-through when those impossible French names tied the actor's whole body in knots•••the moments, hours, days, weeks of practice, practice, practice as the lines and blocking were indelibly printed on the actor's minds... the excitement as the props and set, piece by piece, conjured up a 17th century French sitting room with fireplace, railing,stair- way, and, oh yes, the canopy bed...and finally at dress rehearsal when the ac- tors, in full make-up and costume, knew they were no longer acting—they had be- come, in body and spirit, the characters of The Imaginary Invalid. But enough! The actors backstage are anxious. Master of the magic curtains, open and let the miracle that is theater begin. 1. Final performance. 2. Play practice?! 3. Makeup—much needed?! U. PROM Promanade 1977 was the year of The Great Prom. This year s theme was Knights In White Satin. The juniors did a fantastic job in decorating the legion hall as a castle. The scene was set for a medieval night complete with a throne, draw- bridge, banner, swords, shields, and gray brick walls. Everything fit the bold theme perfectly, expecially the colors of red and silver. Prom banquet was held at St. Matthew s Church this year, a change which also contributed to the prom as being something different. Music was tuned into the action by a group from the cities called ,fMariah. Prom was very successful, and went smoothly. It will long be remembered as the different prom of 19771 1.
