Head Over Heels W-K presented a team to be proud of throughout the season, said Coach Karger. We were back on the playoffs after finishing 5-3, (or 4-4, forfeiting to Lake City after beating them 32-6). The Indians, however, lost to St. Charles 7-14 despite the fact that they out-gained the Saints for the game. Our leading rusher and scorer was Steve Severson with 647 yards and 11 touchdowns. The leading passer was Jim Root with 51 of 11 for 728 yards; the leading receiver was Jim Kohn with 34 catches for 646 yards. Leading the defense in tackles were Dana Henriksen with 64 and Rick Ellinghysen with 62. Rick also recorded 7 tackles for minus yardage. Our leader in sacks and fumble recoveries was Scott Passe despite the fact that he missed 4 games with an injury. Interception leader was Lome Hedin. Jump The girls fought hard in the District 3 tournament, but it wasn't enough to win. W-K. was first matched up with Lake City. We won that match in three games straight. We then had to play Lewiston, the Conference winner. The girls went out with the determination to put Lewiston under. The Indians fought hard and had Lewiston all over the floor but lost the match against Lewiston in five games. Team co-captain, Julie Edwards, said Our team really worked together well during the tourney. Maybe if Ms. Loshek and Mrs. Schultz would have stayed, we would have pulled it off! On a more serious note, co-captain Wendy Wagner said We were tired! Playing eight games in one night was too much to handle. When Ms. Olson talks nobody listens!!! First row - T. Reeser, L.
