Never Surrender HOMECOMING 85 Homecoming was another exciting event this year, starting off with the days of the week. Monday, girls dressed as guys and guys dressed as girls. Yes, there were a few brave souls. Tuesday, people went wild for punk day. Wednesday sported poodle skirts and bob-bv socks from the fifties. Thursday everyone went Hawaiian and Friday showed red, white, and buttons. Teachers and staff bit their fingernails through out the week as they watched the money jars in the office fill to see who would get the pie. Lana Ostrom got it full in the face. Friday afternoon at the rather chilly, but fun, pep fest, all braved the cold for the fest and powder puff game. Senior girls won, thanks to the help they got from the cheerleaders. Homecoming Candidates: Top-D. Meyer, F. Wingert, B. Stamschror, T. Schneider, D J. Root. Bottom: C. Wise, J. Edwards, b. Passe, W. Wagner, P. Schouweiler, and B. Henriksen, and Gosse. LEFT: Come on and go Hawaiian. (K. Polyard) ABOVE: Smile Everyone! (B. Gosse, J. Maass, and W. Wagner) Friday night arrived along with Dover-Eyota's Eagles on our home field. Halftime featured class floats, sophomores took the honors for the best. The band marched, the Bravettes danced to the beat, and the guys gave it their best shot, but we all went away with sad hearts thinking maybe next year . . .

Head Over Heels W-K presented a team to be proud of throughout the season, said Coach Karger. We were back on the playoffs after finishing 5-3, (or 4-4, forfeiting to Lake City after beating them 32-6). The Indians, however, lost to St. Charles 7-14 despite the fact that they out-gained the Saints for the game. Our leading rusher and scorer was Steve Severson with 647 yards and 11 touchdowns. The leading passer was Jim Root with 51 of 11 for 728 yards; the leading receiver was Jim Kohn with 34 catches for 646 yards. Leading the defense in tackles were Dana Henriksen with 64 and Rick Ellinghysen with 62. Rick also recorded 7 tackles for minus yardage. Our leader in sacks and fumble recoveries was Scott Passe despite the fact that he missed 4 games with an injury. Interception leader was Lome Hedin. Our Three Rivers Conference players were Dana Henriksen, Jim Kohn, and Rick Ellinghysen. Left and a right, get those legs up now! (J. Maass) First Row: B. Stamschror, D. Miller, B. Irish, S. Passe, L. Hedin, J. Maass, W. Carrels, P. Klas, J. Root, C. Biever and A. Podolske. Second row: J. Dureske, R. Burcalow, M. Lamey, D. Stumpf, J. Reinhardt, D. Risch, S. Severson, T. Gamble, D.
