Stumpf The craziness of Homecoming hit W-K once again. We followed traditions, broke a couple, and created a few of our own. We started this chaotic week by dressing like Julius Caesar, Boy George, Fonzy, and Don Ho. Finally, our wardrobes cooled down to the simple, traditional red and white topped with 20 lbs. of buttons pinned (very carefully) all over our bodies! This, they say, is showing your spirit??? Our energy wasn't limited to school hours. We let loose at the annual Monday night skits. We snake-danced our way (and held up a little traffic) to the huge bonfire; then sprinted to our cars and cruised (a cool 70 mph) to Plainview on the traditional caravan ride. Friday afternoon, we filed down to the gym for a pep 8 fest (an easy way out of 7th hour, anyway). Enthusiasm was high as we enjoyed a 30-minute session of victory cries, pies in the face, and a tug of war ('85 took it away!). The cheering continued until the end of the football battle against Plainview. Half-time entertainment included performances by the Bravettes and the band, and a parade of our class floats ('86 won this one). The Indians put the Gophers back in their hole with 21-18 lit on the scoreboad. Roller jammed with the students for a great Homecoming dance, Saturday night. Lisa Agin was crowned queen, and Jim Roemer, king. Yes, Homecoming '84 was W-K's best. The true spirit of our school was seen in each and every moment of this year's event.

4-11 Ouch!!! The overall record for the girls varsity volleyball team was 4-11. With only one returning senior, Jacki Pavelka, one new senior, Ul-rika Lindbolm, and nine juniors the team had little experience, however, the juniors gained valuable experience by playing this year. Next year they expect to have many victories. This year's MVP was J. Pavelka, who was also the captain of the team. Jacki was also selected as a member of the TR All-Conference Team. Six sophomores and fourteen freshmen led the B squad to a season record of 8-9. This year's captain was Sue Tentis. The highlight of the season for the team was their victory at the Goodhue Invitational B Team tournament. They first beat Pine Island 2 out of 3, then sunk Wana-mingo 3 out of 3, and finally beat Goodhue 2 out of 3 for a victory. The victory against Goodhue enabled the team to bring home a first place trophy. Coach Huntoon commented, The girls were a talented group with the hustle, aggressiveness and Front row: U.
