FINAL EDITION 1981-1982 it -if VOL. I PG 2 STONES ROLL AGAIN — In their first U.S. tour since 1S78, the Rolling Stones, led by 38-year-old Mick Jagger. played a 10-week concert tour that included 42 performances. It was the Rolling Stones 19th year together. WINNINGEST COACH — Alabama football coach Bear Bryant achieved a record 315th collegiate football victory when the 'Crimson Tide defeated Penn State, making Bryant the all-time most victorious. SINKING FEELING — Destruction occurred in drought-parched central Florida as a senes of sinkholes developed. The largest, in Winter Park, swallowed cars, houses, businesses. VIOLENCE IN IRELAND — Unrest continued in Ireland. Belfast was the center of violence as rioting tore through troubled Northern Ireland in the wake of the death of IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands. He. along with other IRA members, carried out a hunger strike protest from their jail cells. DODGERS TAKE SERIES — After the New York Yankees and take their losing the first two games, the Los first World Series title in 16 years. Angeles Dodgers came back to defeat V. JOE LOUIS DIES — Known to many as the Brown Bomber,'' Joe Louis died at the age of 66. He was world heavyweight champ fighter from 1937 to 1949, and was recognized as one of the best heavyweight fighters ever. 4 - 'U: v - V n SOCIAL STUDIES Mr. Fredrickson checks his list for the correct seat. Mr. Loretz attacking the world. The social studies department consisted of Mr. Fredrickson, Mr. Loretz and Mrs. Books. They offered geography, history and social problems which was a problem for most seniors. Mr. Meddock is new to W-K. Mrs. Schultz can’t believe her class is so silly. “W.hat’s going on over there?” Mrs. Carr. Learning to write term papers, read many types of books, spell correctly, and nouns, verbs etc. are what the English teachers Mrs. Carr, Mrs. Schultz, Ms. Mayer, Mr. Meddock taught their students. ENGLISH B E U D 5 U I C N A E T S I S O N Mrs. Loshek explains to Lori Pavelka how to use a correctable. Mrs. Foskett teaches about capital and who owes what to whom. “There has to be more skin!' 6 Mrs. Loshek and Mrs. Foskett were in charge of the business education department. The curriculum was very diverse and extensive. They offered typing, business math, sales and marketing, accounting, advanced accounting, shorthand, office practice, business correspondence and of course Lester Hill. We regret that many of these classes will be dropped in years to come. 'The Thinker' Mr. Schumacher never could remember his name! The math department kept their students busy with formulas and equations. They offered classes ranging from consumer math to analysis. Mr. Da-len and Mr. Schumacher keep their students interested. The computers are buzzing daily from Mr. Schumacher’s programming and data processing classes. Only ten minutes ’til kickoff. Mrs. Nelson helps the science class out with extra hot air. 11 PHYSICAL EDUCATION HEALTH Mr. Karger Ms. Olson masterly ran the phy-ed and health classes for the 9th 10th graders. Mrs. Fredrickson was glad we waited until after Angie was bom to take her picture. Ms. Fedorenko visits with Dan Graner. SPECIAL EDUCATION 13 Mrs. McMillin knows a secret. Mrs. McMillin helps Mrs. Fredrickson through the day. Jeff Miller tools his own horn again. “Come on gang we’re going to start now.” Mr. Mundy. Pick it up boys. The band played at home athletic events in the gym and on the field. Absenteeism was one of the counselors duties. IMC Mrs. Nelson Becky Swanson controlling the IMC. Ms. Mayer spent time with many students at the high school and middle school. Mr. Nelson spent many fretful hours working out the schedule for next year. COUNSELORS COOKS AND JANITORS Our hard working cooks put out good meals for most students each school day. They are Mrs. Schuth, Mrs. Marx and Mrs. Taverna. Thursday night King Mike Stumpf and Queen Tami Teichert were crowned. There were several skits including the Koneheads, the play, and Spanish Club. RUBIK'S CUBE CRAZE - James Nourse devised and published a solution to the Rubik’s Cube invented by Hungarian professor ErnO Rubik. ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT — President Reagan survived an attempt on his life when he was shot outside a hotel as he waved to the crowd. John Hinckley, Jr., was charged with shooting the President and three others. McENROE WINS — John McEnroe defeated Bjorn Borg for the Wimbledon title.
