With a group of inexperienced men Coach Concidine, with the aid of Mr. Fuller, again produced a strong victorious squad. The 1946 Indians went through the season without a defeat. In the first game of the season against a strong Plainview team, Wabasha won 20-7. Wabasha did all their scoring in the first half while Plainview went 20 yards on the last play of the game to score. Against St. Charles the Red White won by the score of 25-0. With a chance to win the Whitewater Conference title the Indians were out for a victory when they met Lewiston. Both teams scored in the first quarter with Wabasha on top 7-6. In the second frame Wabasha proved they could come through by pushing over a touchdown just before the half ended to lead 13-6. From there on it was all Wabasha as they scored in the last quarter to win the game and the Whitewater Title. In a nonconference game Wabasha defeated the Winona B team by the count of 32-12. Letter winners were: Bob Bohn, Paul Drysdale, Lyle Gosse, Bernard Heddlesten, Willis Kruger, Bernard Lager, Douglas Marcou, Dick Mauch, Ted Mehren, Bill Moe, Earl Schnell, John Tentis, Charles Timmsen, and Bill Counter Manager. Basketball Front Row: Douglas Marcou, Paul Drysdale, Willis Kruger, Bob Bohn, and Bernard Heddlesten. Bock Row: Ronald Nihart, John Tentis, Charles Timmsen, Lyle Gosse, and Coach Wesley Concidine. The Wabasha Indians had a very poor season this year, winning only four out of twenty contests. The Red White had five games packed away before they hit victory by downing Plainview. Then it was five more losses in a row till another victory. In the next three games Wabasha won two out of the three—upsetting Elgin in our own Whitewater League and Nelson, Wisconsin, in the Mississippi Valley Conference. In Sub-District play Wabasha lost a first round opener to Elgin, but downed Kellogg for consolation honors. Letter winners were: Willis Kruger, Bernard Heddlesten, Paul Drysdale, Bob Bohn, and Earl Schnell.
