Kathleen Duffey, the senior candidate, reigned as the 1955-1956 Homecoming Queen. Kathleen's court consisted of sophomore Iudy Smith, junior Ianice Yeates, and freshman Katie Brooks. After being crowned as queen at the football field, Kathleen and her court enjoyed a program in the West Ward gym. Harvest Ball King and Queen, Iohn Claeys and Merrilee Brooks, relax in a background of falling leaves. Autumn Leaves was the appropriate theme of this year's annual Harvest Ball. Refreshments, good dance music, and mixer dances afforded every- one a good time. This event is one of two all-school formal dances held throughout the school year. Senior Tri-Hi-Y sponsors this big affair annually. The job of counting money falls to Richard Bracken, Sarah Zinn, and Norma Wright while the dance still goes on. It looks as if the dance has been a profitable one as the three counters find that they enjoy counting that much money. Different clubs and organizations sponsor these after-game dances throughout the year as money-making projects. The Military Ball was an innovation last year but has since become an annual affair. Gaynel Miner and Carl Brown will agree that they're having a grand time. With the W. H. S. Band acting as host all band students of the county and their guests are invited to the dance which is modeled after a college military ball. The music is furnished by an orchestra made up of all the band directors of the county.
