4 . BM2 Rodney FOSTER On September 13, 1976 an unusually large wave came over the bulwark on fueling station eight during a refueling operation injuring 14 crewmen on the station. This was the worst UNREP accident in WABASH history. The ship returned to Subic Bay, Philippines where the men were removed from the ship to the medical facilities there. Eleven men stayed at the hospital. Five were released within the week and three others returned to the ship after another week of care. Three men were injured so bad that they could not return to heir ship and shipmates. Those three men were BM2 Rodney FOSTER, SA Anthony BAKER and SN Richard SCHMIDT. Those men were not forgotten by their com- mand nor by their shipmates. Our prayers and best wishes are with them always.
