Though I seldom wrote, you were all constantly in my mind and heart As a virgin private. I spent very little time on the rigors of the VMI military system. But. being patriotic from way back. I ' m now off to the high seas. Once there. I ' ll think back on the good times: the Superin- tendent ' s box. House Mountain. Ring Figure, paint- ing the ' Rock ' , a blind date with three Jersey girls?. Endo ' s 21st Cocke Hotel, the phones, the Frats. the road trips I But more importantly. I ' ll recall the men with whom I have spent these four years I am proud to stand among EBO. Johnny D,. PWW. Slop- py. Dig (Ark-Ark). Endo. Meso. Coop, and all the men of my class, Those were the days my friends, George Anthony Francesco Depaoli, Jr. Fat George. Teddy-Bear. Wiggs for the next three. Clinker (the Muix) Moss joined us. then we were three. I ' ll never forget the good times I managed to sneak in. or the bad times that got me, I know that I ' d never do it again, but nevertheless I ' m glad I did, Thanks Mom and Dad for being there and never giving up hope! And oh yes. to Fred and Armanda. the best teddy bears in the world. WE MADE IT!!! Robert Murray Digby Dig, Squeeze Humble, Texas Economics- Army-Infantry Scuba Club 2, 1; AUSA 4, 3. 2. Society of Young Economists 3. 2. 1; Firefighters 3. 2. 1: Seals 2. 1; Rank 3. 2; Dean ' s List 3. 2. 1; Ring Figure Rock Painters 2; Distinguished Military Student 1, What can you expect from a Rat whose dyke was an intellectual grub private that dressed up in a Kangaroo suit once a week. You would probably expect him to march his Rat company through Washington Arch and spend many a late night at the Frats, Considering his Army Scholarship, his talents were used to command the French Rangers, evening-gun restoration crew, and Seals (ARK-ARK), No one could believe that he could scrounge. I mean earn, a 3,000 during three of four years. But Rob has done all of the above and much more - most of which is unprintable As for the future, we expect Rob to go far. and as always we ' ll be right behind him MOD I would especially like to thank my parents who made going to MVI possible. - 4 - •=»; Walter Jeffrey Davies Julio, Pan-face Suffolk, Va. History, Army-Armor Baseball 4, 3, 2: Monogram Club 3, 2. 1; Pvt. 4, 3, 2, 1; Rat CO. X-0 1: Institute Escort 1; OGA investigator 1; 139-141 Alliance 1. The one thing that I distinctly remember about my rat year is that I was deathly afraid of Jeff. I kept a safe distance my third class year (539 miles) but somehow I was bamboozled into rooming with him my second class year I trembled at the thought of living with a dreg from Suffolk but this predicament was actually enjoy- able and beneficial. I found myself bombarded by sav- age but useful insults that I inturn used on my worse enemies. Jeff even taught me how to curse out an Air- Force officer. The wild man has mellowed since our rat year and we have shared many fine memories together. His friendship shall be one of my most treasured pos- sessions, KRM To my family, all my love, you are the best. To the Nurneys, many thanks for the helping hand. Ann, for caring, and understanding, and tolerating, I love you! DYKES1978: Brion C. Smith 1981: Steve Woolwine, Jeff Levenson Charles Paul Davis C p., Ceeps, Paul, Duke Roanoke, Virginia History- Army-Infantry Dean ' s List 3, 2, 1; Private 4; Corporal 3: Sergeant First Sergeant 2; Captain- Mad Dog Delta Co. Commander 1; DMS: Baseball 3, 2, 1; Hotel Roanoke Committee, Ring Figure ' 81; BSU 4, 3; Cadre 3, 2, 1; Krantz Piano Moving Co, Inc 1; Star City Club 4, 3, 2, 1; Westhamp- ton College Social Club; Captain King Fan Club 2, 1 This loyal son of Roanoke came to the Institute con- vinced that if you were not from the valley, then you were not from any place he knew. After four years, CP has found that there is life outside Roanoke, and, not surprisingly, that he really is the Ail-American Boy. Ex- celling in every aspect of VMI life, military, athletics, academics, and shagging Paul is both an example and a guide for others. Further, his sincere good will and extraordinary wit have comforted and enlightened many a bleak day for others in distress. Not to mention enchanted a score or two of the fairer sex. Possessing these qualities, Paul ' s success in life is assured WGL To the special people in my life, thanks for your love and support You will always play as much a part of my future as you have in my past. Captain 1; ASC E 3. 2. 1; Dean ' s List 2; Scuba Club President 2. 1: French Rangers 4. 3. 2. 1 Doug overcame many obstacles his rat year which helped build his present character, but with his non-regulation hair and eyebrows we all knew he was an old cadet at heart. He tried his hand at many trades including psychanalyst, spy. hypnotist. DDMP. and piano player in Col Prilliman ' s after taps band: yet none of these were written in his Diary of Fate If deeds make a man. then his accomplish- ments as shooter. SCUBA diver, scholar, and (sometimes) gentleman ranker clearly mark him for success. As a brother rat he made good times out of bad. and was always there to help a friend. Carry on Dougie Dear, warp factor nine . Sure you can, GC.A. Thanks Glenn, thanks roommates and friends, and most of all thanks mom and dad DYKES 1978: Dave Locuda 1984: Tom Adams, Greg McQuillan John Theodore Ditillo Roanoke, Virginia Armor-Chemistry American Chemical Society 4, 3, 2; Pres. 1; Hop and Floor 3, 2. 1; Dean ' s List 4. 3. 2: DMS: Lejeune Hall Cadet Assistants Manager John, a man of many moods, sound effects and witty cracks will be missed after graduation in the weekday lives of his study buddies. The Day- Student has de- prived our lot of his weekend company over the past two years, but don ' t fret Lisa, we hold no contempt. However, it is hard to forget study rooms and erasers, late night labs and erector sets, popcorn and road trips. Thanks for the job and remember. Coatee is not au- thorized at BRC. MJK Mom and Dad: Thank you for your never ending encouragement and patience. The only way I could possibly express my feel- ings would be through writing a book. But I ' m sure you ' d know the story: Rat humiliation. Third class de- pression. Second class relaxation , and First Class seriousness. All I can say now are my Thank-you ' s : Classmates-Greg. Mike. Eddie-I guess it could have been worse-let ' s just celebrate life now! Danny.
