Though I seldom wrote, you were all constantly in my mind and heart As a virgin private. I spent very little time on the rigors of the VMI military system. But. being patriotic from way back. I ' m now off to the high seas. Once there. I ' ll think back on the good times: the Superin- tendent ' s box. House Mountain. Ring Figure, paint- ing the ' Rock ' , a blind date with three Jersey girls?. Endo ' s 21st Cocke Hotel, the phones, the Frats. the road trips I But more importantly. Wiggs for the next three. Clinker (the Muix) Moss joined us. then we were three. I ' ll never forget the good times I managed to sneak in. or the bad times that got me, I know that I ' d never do it again, but nevertheless I ' m glad I did, Thanks Mom and Dad for being there and never giving up hope! You would probably expect him to march his Rat company through Washington Arch and spend many a late night at the Frats, Considering his Army Scholarship, his talents were used to command the French Rangers, evening-gun restoration crew, and Seals (ARK-ARK), No one could believe that he could scrounge. I mean earn, a 3,000 during three of four years. But Rob has done all of the above and much more - most of which is unprintable As for the future, we expect Rob to go far. and as always we ' ll be right behind him MOD I would especially like to thank my parents who made going to MVI possible. I kept a safe distance my third class year (539 miles) but somehow I was bamboozled into rooming with him my second class year I trembled at the thought of living with a dreg from Suffolk but this predicament was actually enjoy- able and beneficial. I found myself bombarded by sav- age but useful insults that I inturn used on my worse enemies. Jeff even taught me how to curse out an Air- Force officer. The wild man has mellowed since our rat year and we have shared many fine memories together. His friendship shall be one of my most treasured pos- sessions, KRM To my family, all my love, you are the best. To the Nurneys, many thanks for the helping hand. He tried his hand at many trades including psychanalyst, spy. hypnotist. DDMP. and piano player in Col Prilliman ' s after taps band: yet none of these were written in his Diary of Fate If deeds make a man. then his accomplish- ments as shooter. SCUBA diver, scholar, and (sometimes) gentleman ranker clearly mark him for success. As a brother rat he made good times out of bad. and was always there to help a friend.
