The Lions coasted lo a comfort- able 13-6 lead in the fourth quarter only to have the scrappy Yellowjackets take advantage of fum- bles, key penalties, long bomb passes and with 1:32 showing on the clock ease ahead of the Lions 18-13 in a contest that dimmed any hopes of Vinton entering district playoffs.

Vinton’s Big Red Touchdown Machine took out it's flustrations of the past four weeks against the hapless Sam Houston eleven to the tune of 43 to 0. Now the Lions had it all together as Coach Bar- beau put it. Now it was apparent why Vinton was ranked 3rd in State standing early in the season. Big Red had overcome its injuries to be on the move again.
