FLOATS AND TROPHIES HIGHLIGHT VU’s HOMECOMING VU’s Homecoming this year was the biggest and best ever. For the first time lawn displays were seen all over the campus and more floats entered the parade than previous years. The President’s Trophy for the best float went to Theta Psi Omega. The first place prize for lawn displays went to Newman Center. The new Homecom- ing Queen, Rhonda Townsend, fresh- man, was crowned Friday night at the traditional homecoming game. The 1910 Fruitgum Company and The Box Tops Performed. The Sigma Pi’s display their talent in the traditional homecoming parade. 22

Arthur Hart addressed the students at the annual Homecoming convocation. Despite the steady rainfall, the heat of Gamma Tau’s bonfire warmed Homecoming hearts.

The Theta Psi Omega’s ‘“VU Educational Melt- ing Pot’’ float won the President’s Trophy. Peace plays a large part in everyone’s mind and the Newman Center is no exception. Jerry, Oscar, and Dave pose with the Trophy they and the other Trailblazers won in the Vincenn es Homecoming Tourney. 23
