Look who carries all the "heavy stuff." U 'U f Wlithout the support of a community a school eau he little more than an institution of eolml laets. 'lihis is def- initely not the ease here at l,ineoln lligh Sehool, At every turn milling hands are ollereil. :Xml this support is not merely encouraging uords. hut it is positive and direct action. Vtlho supports our sehool aetixities and elulis? who aids many ol the students nl our school? 'l'he ansner is our eooperatix e eonnuunity. Our eonununiti ol nxerehants. ilor-tors. laisiers. par- ents. and inainy others help in making our school act- ixities and funn-tions sues-esslul. The eonununity provides an opportunity lor happy and healthful experienees for the students of olll' school. Teen Count-il sponsored dances lixened up the sum- mer evenings. We thank the eomniunity for this service. The mernhers ol ilu- atlxertising stalls ol the l,ineoln Log and the Old l'ost Sentinel know isell the patrons of their pulvlieations. Without their help the newspaper and the annual could not he ol sueh high quality. Athletics ref-eixeil an enthusiastic hacking from Vin- cennes fans and organizations. Sr-hool and town merge into one shouting mountain of encouragement in support of their team. Energetic hand hoosters help in keeping our hand on the top of the list. Lincoln Playshop exists through patronage of high school drama and comedy. Yvith their support many pro- duetions ol outstanding quality have heen possible. A series of alter prom parties provided hy merchants is a much appreciated exent. The parents and friends of students are interested in safe entertainment for the youth Of Vincennes after the Prom. Many students have the opportunity of learning trades and husinesses through after school johs with merchants and husinessmen ol Vincennes. After enumerating such an impressive list of services there can he no douht that ours is a community of which to be proud. ,jf L. They are there for a purpose but that purpose is not to talk to everyone who passes byf' Yes, hall monitors do have a purpose. During their study period they sit in the hall to keep the wandering students quiet and to prevent them from leaving the building. Monitors are only one group of the student assist- ants here at Lincoln. There are librarians and office helpers. The librarians learn about the workings of the library and help other students in the use of the library. They assist Miss Bierly, the librarian, to catalog, stamp, number books, and paste in the pockets. The students who work in the main office help the secretary by checking attendance and getting students from classes who are wanted on the phone or by the counsellors. In the athletic office. the student assistants help take care of football and basketball tickets, season tickets, and the money collected from ticket sales. First Row: Jackie Wagonseller.
