by Kelly Van Horn My interest ht foreign languages first developed when I enrolled in French clan in seventh grade. Attending Villa Park for my last three years gave merthe opportunity to take my second and third foreign languages. In my sophomore and junior years I took German but due to a conflict in sched- ule with an AP English class, I was unable to contin- ue my study of German during my seninr year. Latin was the third language that l decided to take but by no means the easiest. Latin has helped me to come to a better understanding of the English language. and has helped me ta gain a better perspective in my studies of French and German. For the last year we have 'housed a foreign exchange student from France and it has been an excellent experience. Because of this I have gained a greater comprehen- sion of French culture and customs. I'll reaUy miss Sophie when she leaves l:ecausewe're as close as real sisters.
