OOV It was the best Spirit Da I 've seen since I 've been here. r - Matt Payne 'D l 3 ATS H ff The responsibilities of any senior class officer are numerous and time consuming. The 1985 sen- ior class officers' duties were no exception. The mort important of these was at the beginning of the yean Senior Spirit Day. A popular item for this event was DAVE SACI'I'S and JASON ROSS'S hand built saloon, which went great with the theme: 'How The Seniors Won The West. Spirit Day was hard work for us, but well worth the effort. We were pleased with the outcome and thankful to GENEVIEVE TALAVERA as well as SHERYI.. WOLF, LIZ TAIT, MARGARFI' NARUSE and so many others that put all their time into helping us win this naditional event. Our next I-lik was the Coronation Dance. I never realized the amount of preparation that went into holding a dance. I began looking around during the su.mmer for just the right place to hold such a special occasion. After looking at several locations we finally decided on the Merid- ian Hotel in Newport Beach, a place that was just opening in time for the dance. We chose this place because of its wonderful reputation in Paris. I ltnew it would be a hit for our theme Winter In Paris. After months of preparation, the big night finally arrived, leaving special memories with everyone. Coronation was not the end of our challenges, we still had Senior Baccalaureate, Senior Brealt- fast, as well as leaving our BS mark by donating by Brigitte Prevot a senior Along with the duties of senior dass vice president, I was also co-worker of the half time show at homecoming and in charge of the Lip Sync held one day at lunch. Of course, none of this could have happened without the guid- ance of MS. THEILMAN, and I know TRACY BURDINE, SHAUNNA LARSEN, LIZ TAIT and all of the senators cou.ldn't have made it through our year without MH. BRUNT, our senior advisor, or the unity of the senior dass. As senior dau vice-president, I felt it was an honor to be included as an ASB member. I felt a special closeness among the members of the cabi- net. Being involved in such a variety of activities this year has definitely made a memorable impact on my senior year. ..i ' page by Susie Kimball and Teri Thene gf lf A1l's quiet on the Western Front. However, any person who finds himself in Annual for this reason is in for a big surprise. Being a member of the Annual staff is a lot of hard work and takes a lot of time, though it is a fun class,', commented KELLY HALLIGAN, Odyssey staff member. Before school even started this year the Odyssey staff and editors got together to discuss up-coming work, and to start thinking of ideas for possible themes. Instructions for selling advertising were given, an important task for financing our yearbook. The first weeks of school were spent deciding on a theme, and several good ideas were tossed around. Everybody wanted to do something special to commemorate the graduation of VPHS's twentieth senior class. AN INVITATION TO A CELE- BRATION was the most popular idea. I am happy with the theme of 'Celebration' because it's easy to keep a festive look continuing on throughout the book, mentioned GEN EVIEVE TALAVERA, theme editor. Several hours of hard work followed. Weekends and holidays were spent designing layouts, writing copy, and taking pictures in time to meet each deadline. After all of the work was done, it was time to CELEBRATE our success. , .
