The Jackrabbit Band It starts with the desire to learn and the patience to en- .YY dure long hours of hard work, with the disappointment when you don't come out on top, but also the satisfaction and happiness you feel when the work pays off and youfre A the best in the field. ln the beginning of any program you if experience transitions, which can last as long as three years, and you then must go through many hard times and trials until you finally work towards triumph. Here at Victor Val- ley High School, the many students in the band program I have worked towards reaching their goal of recognition. Un- der the direction of new Band Director David Smith, the band has participated at many school functions, which in- clude the pep rallies, football games, local parades, as well as in I, , competitions at Bonsall, California, and they compete in fes- it rivals around Southern California. - Katherine Costello , I e First row: Patricia Latimer, Vicki Munn, Shannon l-larington, Janice Cail, Violet Kinchen, Raquel Cato, Donna Hampton, Helen Hayes, Stacy Giffen. Bragging on the Jackrabbit r Journal The fackmbbit fournal Staff has stepped out in new direc- tions, striving to achieve innovative heights of excellence during the 1984-85 school year. They have experimented with different layout designs and continued to tastefully publish interesting articles that are both controversial and im' portant to the student body. Their dedication paid off, resulting in a second place sweepstakes award at the Inland journalism Education Asso- ciation Write-Cff competition which put the fackmbbit four- mzl on the list of Southern California's best newspapers. Even during the strike, staff members continued in the tradition of meeting deadlines as they published their biggest edition of the year in December, without their regular teacher. All in all. the staff think they have made their steps in the right direction and hope that next yearls staff will build upon this foundation. - The Jackrabbit Journal Y, .ll First row: Betty Kellems.
