This year's freshman team was coached by Ser- gio Lugo, a teacher at Hesperia Junior High. There are only a few teams in the freshman division which is the reason for playing several teams more than once. Their first opponents were from Hemet and the freshman team defeat- ed them 59-40. Most of the losses were against one of our school's oldest rivals, the Barstow Aztecs with three wins against us. The other three losses were to Moreno Valley C4I-453, Burroughs C42-49, and San Bernadino C41-489. The freshman team did considerably well for their very first year. Now they have set the standard for the teams in following years. They ended the season with a 9-6 record. They placed second in the San Andreas League. There were three ties in the season and they were against Ramona, Apple Valley, and San Bernardino. One tie was the only obstacle that kept the jaclcrabbits from win- ning the League Championships. If tie-breakers were allowed in soccer, the League Champion- ships could be determined on how many games the team won, not on wins and ties. Although the Jaclcrabbits placed second, they entered into the first round of the CIF Playoffs. The team they faced was Calexico High School. The jackrabbits played hard, but strength of Calexico was unbearable as the jaclcrabbits lost the game O-I.
