P.T.A. Side Show The P.T.A. sponsored its first annual Side Show this year in the high school gym. The object of the show was to encourage payment of P.T.A. dues and to increase P.T.A. membership. As an incentive, the class with the most students attending was given half a day out of school. Different booths were set up around the gym including a fortune telling booth led by Beverly Brasell, a magic show performed by Kyle Holman, and most interesting of all a snake pit. There was also a stage show performed ever thirty minutes by parents, students, and teachers. With a large turnout, the evening was a huge success and enjoyed by every- one. 25

New Talent Is Discovered Each year the student council sponsors a talent show in which individuals trom all grades are encouraged to participate. This year the talent show was held over a two day period. The stu- dent ' s talents varied from singing to dancing to playing the drums. A panel of four faculty mem- bers served as judges for the annual event. First place went to Jimbo Stevens, who sang and played the piano. Second place went to Kerri Go- ward, who played a classical piece on the piano. Third place was a tie between Steve Linton and Page Nelson. The Crazy Costumes of Halloween This year ' s Halloween brought many unu- sual characters to Vestavia. Each class and the taculty dressed up in a certain era or category. The Freshmen came as cowboys, while the Sophomores came as monsters. The Juniors dressed up as people out of the fifties, and the Seniors wore the latest craze, togas. Last but not least, the teachers dressed as Hee Haw characters. The day was a huge success and everyone had a lot of fun.
