Next year, many of the players will return and if the YES! attitude is there. . . who knows how that season will culminate? Memolog Seventy G Seven. We knew it was to be the greatest in Logger history. YEAR II OF YES! -2nd straight boys A Basketball Championship -an undefeated season (25-0) -an extended winning streak of 40 games, second longest in Oregon Prep history It was a talented group of young men who began the 1977-78 season precariously at the Yamhill-Carlton Tournament against AA schools with only one week of practice. The Loggers won their first five games handily, were challenged by Dayton and Wahkiakum during the Christmas holidays and playing good enough to win reached the State Tourney before being again stiffly encountered. Regular season highlights were wins over always tough Dayton, Wahkiakum, and perennial league nemisis Lutheran. Most exciting league encounter prior to State was the first game with Lutheran played at Centennial High School before an excess of one thousand spectators. A Bluejay 2nd quarter lead was overcome when the Loggers sdmied their four-comer offense and led by two points at half-time 31-29. The regular season ended with all twelve team members playing superbly, scoring a record single game high 114 points against a young Warrenton team. The Loggers appeared ready to defend their title. 1. John Beamish and Wes Tadlock come out ready to win. 2. Troy Dunaway concentrates on a lay-in. 3. Shawn Ostrander shows his Logger determination. 3 Varsity Basketball 25
