Cross Country: Team Makes State; Places Third VERNONIA can be proud of its Cross Country team. This years team was relatively inexperienced, but performed well at every level of competition. There were two seniors on the Boys Varsity team; Ron De-Lemos and Brian Wilson. Brian was the team captain and the most consistant place winner. The rest of the team will be returning next year and will continue the winning traditions set by earlier VHS Cross Country teams. Juniors included Jeff McMaster, Pat Lowry, Jon Miller, and George Ray. The Sophomore runner was Karl Garner and Freshmen included Doug Curl, and Brien Weigand. This year the VHS Varsity team made it to State again, and placed a very honorable third place. There weren't enough girls to field a full team but the two girls out were very competitive. Carole DeLemos and Angie Remsen ran well all season and will be the nucleaus of next years girls team. 1. Brian Wilson showed his great running ability by going to state. 2.
