The second league game with North Hollywood was the high point ot the season. Morty Barlre, in the last inning, soclced one over the tence, scoring himselt and l-lack O'Brien to win the game from Ralph "Unbeatable" Maurello, who had won 26 consecutive games. The next game with San Fernando was also won by Verdugo. The three tollowing games, although hard fought. were lost to Van Nuys, Canoga Park, ancl Franklin. Outstanding events in these games were: a double play from Rexrode to Youngs, another double play trom pitcher to second base. ln the Franlclin game, Dan Miller, with the help ot Jerry Dow's calling, struck out twelve men. Morty Barlxe led the team in hitting with a .400 average. Seniors on this year's Varsity squad: Morty Barlxe, third baseman, two years varsity: Dan Miller, excellent pitcher trom Owens Valley, had a territic l.25 per game earned run average, and was the winning pitcher in all but one League game ot those won.
