EDWIN PAYNE I saw fl boy a-sailing, A-.ra1li11g thru our school. Ha parsed an. all his .rubject.r, And kept the golden rnlc. Edwin has taken an active part in school activities, and did he succeed-I'll say he did. This is proven by the fact that Edwin holds the title of being our best boy speaker. We believe Edwin is going to make a big hit wherever he goes and make a success of what- ever he undertakes. w, sau f r A ANNE STONEMAN I wonder 'why erferyoncis' weeping, And 'why are the boys all so sad? The gloom that 1ve're all .va deep in, Is 'cfmfe wc're l0.7l'l'lg one of the best that we had- aupl tlzafs Amie. Anne is an all around girl. She makes an attempt at everything, and usually comes out on top, especially in debating. Luck to you, Anne, is the Wish of the Class of '31. LUCILE ALLEN Lucille Allen, full of laughter' and joy, Forc'ucr talking of that adorable boy, Lucile, better known as Lu, is one of our means of happiness. We enjoy being in her presenceg she is always ready to tell a joke. When it comes to studying- Lu likes many things better, just like the rest of us. We do not know what she will do in life, but We are all quite sure she will be an old maid. We wish you a great success through all your life whatever your career may be. -,.,gr 164 ga..-

Anson has spent his school days at Varina. He believes that all work and no play makes jack a dull boy, therefore, he comes only half of each day. This proves that he is a brilliant pupil. Anson is an expert in the Sciences, especially Chemistry. He will gladly help us with our problems and experiments. We will not be surprised to find him teaching Chemistry at Yale. The Class of '31 wishes him much success. MILDRIID AMORY Mildred Amory, 011 so servant, When- it wmv.: to lorlifig, she rawft be beat. Mildred is an all around good sport. What would the class of '31 have done without Mil- dred to sell ads in the VAMNIAN. Believe it or not, one of the wonders of the class of '31 is whether Mildred is living to love or loving to live. We feel that her future will be a great success. LULA THROCKMORTON A little misclzicf by thc way, A little f1l'llf to spite the day. Lula is a ready and willing worker especi- ally when there is work to be done by the School Committee. We feel sure the Class of '32 will find it no easy task to fill the chairman- ship with another Lula. Taking into consideration Lula's work in Home Economics, we predict that she will make a capable housekeeper for? 15 gf..-
