The morning of September 11, 1928, was indeed a great moment in history when we the Glass of 29, began our triumphant marchathrough ldigh Schoo . 2 At the beginning of our Freshman Campaign we were lift y- tgcpur strong, under the generalship of Miss Summers tnow Mrs onemant. Our ranks were so large that Commander-rn-Chief General Baker placed part of our army under the leadership of General tMissll Taylor. Our campaign was very successful, although we had nothing but green militia to start with. When our freshman campaign came to a close in June, after righting the battles of English, Algebra, History, Science and A 'ricult h ' ' g ure, we ad lost only four of our gallant men. In September, 1927, at the opening of our Sophomore Cam- paign, our army had dwindled down to thirty-three. This cam- paign, led by General tMisslt O'Neal. was edually as successful as the first, although we fought harder battles. Our men had the fighting spirit, and during the entire campaign we lost only one man. When our Junior Campaign opened, our army had been in- creased to thirty-four by two volunteers. This time we found ourselves under the leadership of General fMisslt Motley, second only to Robert E. Lee. We have been very successful thus far, although in the Battle of Matrimony, Dan Cupid succeeded in picking off two of our very bravest men. We now have veterans, who are very different from our original raw recruits. We believe that with the wonderful strat- egy of our leader and the hard fighting of our men, we will be as successful in our future campaigns as we have been in the past. Then will we be able to say with Caesar, We came, we sawg we conquered I l32l
