Of course it was all here long before you ever arrived on the scene, and worse yet, all will go on about the same after you've been forgotten. A lot of talking is done about the passing of the old traditions, in a sense the fact that they can be discussed objectively, or discussed at all, is proof that as traditions they are no longer vital. A tradi- tion is a custom and a custom is something that you do without really thinking about it. Thus we say nothing more of traditions except that they are always lurking where you least expect, and if you embarrass them in public they will probably go away.
