The Deans Dean Snrrati has perhaps one of the most comprehensive position' in the administrative Iwidy, covering, as it does, a mnltitiidinons number of concerns and interests. On account of the great number of contacts between Dean Sarratt ami the student body, he is one of the best known of the faculty, and on account of the way in which lie meets the students he i' one of the best liked. Serving, as he does in so many cases, as the agent between the students and the 1‘niversity, he has been able to rentier invaluable service to both parties. Dean Leathers, of the Medical School, has shown himself to he. during his stay at Vanderbilt, one of tin- most thor- ough teachers and efficient executives on the administrative staff. Besides being universally recognized as an authority on preventive medicine and having an unusually wide range of duties, he has shown that he has the interest of his stu- dents at heart by carefully attending to their activities and interests. Dean Stapleton is one of the most popular of the Vanderbilt Deans. Serving as Dean of Women, she has incurred the respect and affection of all those coming in contact with her and has very decidedly proven her worth along the admin- istrative and teaching lines. Lite success of women's educa- tion in Vanderbilt in recent years may in a large majority of cases be traced to the efforts of Dean Stapleton. 22

I r six years Dean Titus was director of the School of Nursing and superintendent of nurses at the I Diversity. During her stay at Van- • l« tl»iIt 'he has proved to be a capable and efficient worker as Well as a constant friend and advi'et to the students. Alwaxs icady to help and ailvisc she has been a decided asset to V underbill and V underbill's student body and is certainly deserving of the position of high regard which both the stu- dents and faculty liaxe conferred upon her. 24
