If the right plug has been stepped on, you will hear a slight gargling sound and in a short time, aqua pura will spurt out of the little hole in the apex. Put your mouth over the spurt and spray your throat out with the cityis bleaching powder solution. Kissam Hall is the dormitory. It has been eulogized in song and story-the home of Democracy. Besides Democracy, the follow- ing also inhabit it: Robert, Pat, John C., the Captain of the Red Head Club, Shylock, roaches, ants, and the Vanderbilt Press- ing Club. It is very sanitary, being soaked in carbolic acid once a week. ln the basement is the dining room. If it is near 12:30, or 6 P.X., you may en- ter. Follow the crowd. Enter- ing from the South end, pass twenty empty tables. Don't mis- take full ,tables for empty ones. The full tables have light gray napery upon them. Take off your hat. Put it in your pocket, or sit on it. Eat, if you are still hungry. When you have all you want, pay the head waiter 25C and go to the fountain and wash the taste out of your mouth. Then you might enter the Un- ion Room, at the South of the dining room, and smoke a cigar. The Vanderbilt Union is a member of the American Fede- ration of Non-Laborers. The room is headquarters. Sit down, play the piano, or read the funny papers, such as the Hustler, the Observer, and the Chilclrerfs Vis- itor. You will not likely be dis- turbed. WEsLEY HALL To your left and on ahead, you can make out Wesley Hall. Enter the door at B. Borrow some matches before you enter, as it is dark inside. Make your way down the hall and ask some one where the pool room is- leave by the front door, and don't hurry down the steps, for you might fall and break your neck. Now stop at C and ad- mire the beauty of the architec- ture. Wesley Hall was erected in l880, the gift of Mr. W. H. Vanderbilt. It is inhabited by young men from all parts of the world, especially Tennessee and China. , From the point C, proceed rapidly to D, admiring as you go the shady trees. There are 4,265 trees on the campus, no two exactly alike. They are in- habited by 2,426,954 birds. There used to be 8,4l9,l32, but Cap. Alley, an old Confed-

Shorty Brown, who gets up Home Comings ev- ery Thanksgiving, holds forth here-also Mr. Benson, who files locks at Kissam. Now proceed up in front of Furman Hall, the grey stone building directly before you. This building cost 580,000 The most peculiar thing about it is the roof-it leaks. The weird odors are the results of chemical experiments which abound in pro- fusion on the inside. Do not be surprised if you see a head or an arm come bursting through a glass window-it is the Fresh- men making Hydrogen. On the top floor is one McNeilly. As you pass down the corridor you will see on your left the Alumni Room. Charlie Cason will ac- cept your alumni dues, if you de- sire to pay. At the cross corri- dor turn to your right and go up stairs. The double doors open into chapel. Note the pictures on the walls. They represent men and women who made Van- dy what she is to-day. Now if you're satisfied, go down and down and down until, you are once more beside-the drinking fountain. Stop a moment, and drink hot water H to the health of ' I Z. Proceed on down the hall. As you pass the Bursar's office, put on speed, and exit rapidly. You are now at F on the map. Turn to your right and pro- ceed to the statue of the original Commodore. From here, go due East till you hit a cinder path, and follow it till you reach a fenced enclosure, the athletic field. Page twenty
