Hut such was not the case of the hero of this chronicle, lie had wrestled with the school-master long and well, and had finally, after years of struggle, overcome his antagonist and left the hateful institution of that tyrant forever, or at any rate, only to return as its master to wield the ruler himself, and to terrify the mischievous small-boy with his frown. In other words, he had made a rise in the world. lie was about, to go to the university, there to have a good time
