A DREAM COME TRUE The Von Morn Mansion, razed in 1952. • As early as 1929 the people of Inter-City planned lor a new high school. In that year the Inter-Citv Kiwanis Club selected a coin- mittee to present a petition to the Kansas Citv, M issouri, Board of Education. Community interest in the project was growing and the citizens were demanding adequate educa- tional facilities for Inter-City youth. In 1930, negotiations were made to pur- chase the corner of Van I lorn and W inner Roads as a site lor a new, modern structure, and for the next ten years civic organizations and individuals worked diligently lor their “dream.” I he Parent-Teacher Association promised support; an “Inter-City 1 Iigli Boosters C lub was organized to promote the construction of a high school.
