Text from Pages 1 - 144 of the 1975 volume:

A SMILE costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it. A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business and is the countersign of friendship. It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and it is nature's best antidote for trouble. Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed , or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give. 2 Author Unknown We can do more good by being good, than in any other way — R. Hill As every thread of gold is valuable, so is every moment of time. - J. Mason 4 Wonder what Robbie just told Mrs. Huntsman. Advanced Science students and weather station. 5 I have lived a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proof I see of this truth — that God governs in the affairs of men. — Benjamin Franklin Mrs. Charlesene Hulsey This yearbook is dedicated to Mrs. Charlesene Hulsey for her dedication and love of Van Alstyne High School. Her patience and understanding helped her not only to be a teacher, but a friend of all her students. She has always looked for the best in others and given the best she had in her 13 years of teaching at Van Alstyne High. She was an inspiration to her students and to her co-workers. Mrs. Hulsey, we thank you. The 1974-75 Panther Is Dedicated to . . . THE GIFT OF FRIENDSHIP FRIENDSHIP is a PRICELESS GIFT that cannot be bought or sold, But its value is far greater than a mountain of gold - For gold is cold and lifeless, it can neither see nor hear, And in the time of trouble it is powerless to cheer - It has no ears to listen, no heart to understand - It cannot bring you comfort or reach out a helping hand - So when you ask GOD for a GIFT, be thankful if HE sends, Not diamonds, pearls or riches, but the love of real true friends. For the publication of this book many long hard hours of work were in store. As each week’s work developed, our friendships became closer by accident; therefore, we had two finished products. True friends are important to every person. We hope this book can bring you some memories, and that someday you will look back and say hello” to those friends who helped to make your school days at Van Alstyne High School more enjoyable. Helen Steiner Rice Editor Activities The crowd listens silently while Kyle B. says a few words about the upcoming game. For loyalty and truth; The Beta Club’s for fellowship, A guide and help to youth. Then let's stick together In fair or foul weather; We'll find that there's no better plan.
