The outlook at the start of the game was favorable for the Panthers when they drove deep into Warrior territory, but as had happened so many times previously. Van fumbled the ball away. The rain fell in sheets throughout the game; the wind blew very hard; the temperature was in the upper thirties. The inclement weather seemed to bring out the best in die Panthers as they took the lead in the first quarter which continued throughout the game. The Panthers continued to move the ball on the Whitewright defense, and the defense stopped the Tiger offense consistently. Van shut out the Tigers 27-0 and ended the 1970 football season with the sweet taste of victory. FIVE PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL DISTRICT TEAM B.
