The Bulldogs, raking the Viking defense, decisioned the Vikes 25-7 at Bulldog field. The fcliowing week the Viking hosted the Griffith Panthers The Vikes were upset 7-? ace counting for the heart breaker of the year. lfext game the Vikes lafghed brick to upset the Bombers Qfb, in spite of a first minute T. D. by the Borriberrz, at Rensselaer. The following outing they were faced by the powerful Brickies at Boucher Bowl. The Vikes held the Brickies in the first half, but in the sec- ond half the roof fell in and cost the Vikings a 33-O defeat. Then "old cripe pler" polio returned and it looked as though the rest of the season would be jinxed. The Vikes came back, after a two week layoff, to hang up a happy home coming score of l9fO against Lowell. The Vikes hit their peak when they got sweet revenge by rapping the Rockies of Plymouth 20,8 ln the Mer- ril.lvill outing, the Pirates racked up two markers- but the Vikings came out on top l3el2. ln November, the Vikes clashed with the Red Devils of City and the Slicers to be defeated in both outings by identical scores. A 1 g W G H51 11 10 Track 1952 The Pifermen started their l952 season by racking up a 59 to 50 win over Ham- mond Clark. ln the next contest, the first home meet, the Vikings trimmed Lew Wallace 59172 to 49172. Then the Vikings were hosted by Chesterton. Breaking two records, Iim Brown stepped to a 22.7 vic- tory in the "lows," and stellar Bob Eigels- bach kicked over a 203.8 half-mile. Valpo won 71112 to 37172. Two nights later the Vikes journeyed to East Chicago and overpowered Roosevelt 59172 to 49172. On April 22, the Vikings hosted Frobel and Emerson in a triangular meet. The results - Valpo 78172, Frobel 68172, and Emerson 25. Bon Lines broke the pole vault record. Following shortly, Hobart came to town breaking our 22 straight dual meet win- ning streak, The count was 46173 to 62273. The next dual meet was with Tolleston and the Vikings hung up an easy 72 to 37 victory. Then the Vikings overran Ham- mond Tech 74 to 35 in their last dual meet before the track sectionals in Hammond. At Hammond, five Vikings placed in tough competition to go to the regionals.
