“J . In looking back over the years during school, we recall never to be forgotten memories. ln the fall of 1938 we became mere first graders in the room of Mrs. Lula McDaniel. At that time the class was composed of 50 members, of which are among those graduating this year, Patsy Darr, Anita Griffin, Martha Sue Owens, Minnie Belle Magee, Betty Trammell, Jane Hannah, Doyle Yarbrough, Howard Norman, and Ralph Christian. One of our sadder moments was due to the loss of our classmate, Mary Dunlap, who passed away during the fifth year of our elementary school. With 40 members we were the first class to be graduated in our new Audi- torium. We made a very promising entrance as dumb freshmen with around 45 greenies . Our sophomore year saw our members decrease sadly until only 25 students remained with us. As jolly Juniors, we were really getting our share of the honors. We easily won second place in the Christmas Parade with our Winter Wonderland float, had a wonderful success with our play, Heart Trouble , our candidate for Carnival Queen, was maid, and our jr.-Sr. Prom was certainly a dreamy success. Now, as Seniors, we became dignified and strove to make our class long re- membered. As our officers we selected Melvin Hall, Pres., Anita Griffin, Vice- Pres., Patsy Collins, Sec., .lune Clark, Treas., and Betty Trammell, Rep. The class play, Mama's Baby Boy, was an even greater hilarious success and the juniors re ally did justice to the jr.-Sr. Prom. One of the events which will stand foremost in our memories was our wonder- ful senior trip to Chicago at the end of the year. This year we took FIRST PLACE in the Christmas Parade with our beauti- ful colorful cellophane float. Another first for the class was their success in electing Betty Trammell Queen of the Annual School Carnival. Now, for our more serious moments. Patsy Darr was declared Valedictorian and June Clark Salutatorian of our class. We chose yellow and white roses as our flowers, White and Gold as our class colors, and our motto was Less Than Our Best is Failure. Class night, the first to be held, began our commencement program and ended that moment when we received our diplomas, wearing blue gowns and bronze tassels.
