In looking back over the years during school, we recall never to be forgotten memories. ln the fall of 1938 we became mere first graders in the room of Mrs. Lula McDaniel. At that time the class was composed of 50 members, of which are among those graduating this year, Patsy Darr, Anita Griffin, Martha Sue Owens, Minnie Belle Magee, Betty Trammell, Jane Hannah, Doyle Yarbrough, Howard Norman, and Ralph Christian. One of our sadder moments was due to the loss of our classmate, Mary Dunlap, who passed away during the fifth year of our elementary school. With 40 members we were the first class to be graduated in our new Audi- torium. We made a very promising entrance as "dumb freshmen" with around 45 "greenies". Our sophomore year saw our members decrease sadly until only 25 students remained with us. As "jolly Juniors," we were really getting our share of the honors. We easily won second place in the Christmas Parade with our "Winter Wonderland" float, had a wonderful success with our play, "Heart Trouble", our candidate for Carnival Queen, was maid, and our jr.-Sr. Prom was certainly a dreamy success. Now, as Seniors, we became dignified and strove to make our class long re- membered. As our officers we selected Melvin Hall, Pres., Anita Griffin, Vice- Pres., Patsy Collins, Sec., .lune Clark, Treas., and Betty Trammell, Rep. The class play, "Mama's Baby Boy," was an even greater hilarious success and the juniors re ally did justice to the jr.-Sr. Prom. One of the events which will stand foremost in our memories was our wonder- ful senior trip to Chicago at the end of the year. This year we took "FIRST PLACE" in the Christmas Parade with our beauti- ful colorful cellophane float. Another first for the class was their success in electing Betty Trammell Queen of the Annual School Carnival. Now, for our more serious moments. Patsy Darr was declared Valedictorian and June Clark Salutatorian of our class. We chose yellow and white roses as our flowers, White and Gold as our class colors, and our motto was "Less Than Our Best is Failure." Class night, the first to be held, began our commencement program and ended that moment when we received our diplomas, wearing blue gowns and bronze tassels. Q Jim We the class of 1950 of Valley View High School, being of sound mind and physiques, do make this our last Will and Testament. Each article here described is bequeathed severly to the below mentioned individuals according to the terms of this Will and Testament. We hereby declare all other Wills and Testaments made by this class as null and void. . Betty CBennettJ Grarnmel wills her love for Frolic Footwear to Royce Sandifer. Jane Hannah, her ability to drive a certain boy's car to all class activities to Roberta Turman. Martha Sue Owens, her unique ballroom dancing to Margaret Owens. june Clark, her ability to make a sheep out of a wolf to Lucille Wimpy, pro- viding she picks a different wolf. Patsy Darr, her place as Editor of the annual to Janice Mattix, and hopes her work will equal hers. Mary McAnally's ability to wed, to Carol Lawman. We, Harry Wilson and Evelyn Mote, will our Cafeteria romance to the Romantic Age. Frank Allen, his ability to play the part of a great lover to G. W. Pierce. Billy jack Simpkins and Minnie Belle Magee will their favorite seats in the office to Obbie Allen and Wayne McDaniel. Patsy Ruth Collins leaves her love letters to a certain Army boy, for publica- tion in next years annual. joe Campbell, all his excuse blanks and absence privileges, to Oscar Med- lock. Jimmie Green leaves his masculine handsomeness to Bill Griffin. Bob Wright's ability to get along with Mr. Watkins to jimmy Kirksey. Eulas McCrackin's ability to get out of Agriculture without being seen, to jimmy Gregory. Ralph Christian wills his ability to get the answers in bookkeeping by fair means or foul, to Gene Waltom. Kelly Clark's studious manner to Regina Kee - - who needs it! Dale Alexander's city girl-friends to Gerald Maxwell. Jim Bulla's "day dreaming hours" to Dorthy Stotts. J. D. Graves leaves all his nick names to Edward Morton. Doyle Yarbrough wills his 'High School Possessions' to Russel Hendrix - -that is, all except Anita. Melvin Hall's art of always being the teacher's favorite, to Ollie Ann Griffin. Howard Norman, all his chewing gum under seat No. 3B in the lunch room, to Earline Boyer. Garfield Edgar, his ability to get along with the Umpire to Ray Broadway. And last but not least, Anita Griffin wills her four years of romance to Nelda Collins. The class, it's ability to build prize winning floats, to the jrs. So ends our last Will and Testament of Nineteen Hundred and Fifty. Ten long years have passed and I see my former classmates at Valley View scattered all the way from New York to Europe. Much to her delight, Martha Sue Owens is a singer in a ritzy Night Club in Chicago where she entertains nightly. Kelly Arthur Clark has proven that he is the "Most Studious Boy". He has gone through college and is now a great math professor. To those who have been wondering about Patsy Ruth Collins and jane Hannah, they still make a trip to Reno once a year. Seems as tho they just can't find a man whom they can please. Anita Griffin is playing basketball with the All-American Red Head Team, While the once bashful Doyle Yarbrough is now singing with a famous band. Dale Alexander finally married one of his numerous city girl friends. Howard Norman lives in a one room shack on Whitzell Ditch. It seems as if Betty Trammel has become a wrestler so watch the wrestling schedule as she may appear here soon. jimmy Bulla and Jimmie Green received a college education and have gone abroad to study aft. They plan to come back to Valley View and teach designing and build floats. Melvin Hall is still driving the school bus and attending ball games. He never did get started on his musical career as he had once planned. Billy jack Simpkins has married, he and his family are living on a large plantation up in the mountains. joe Campbell is operating a chicken farm near Jonesboro, and I hear he is doing quite well. Frank Allen is still living up to his "Biggest Pest" name, he's quite an outlaw and has escaped to California now. Mary Ruth Loggins has made quite a success with her married life, she and Charles are now operating the McAnnally farm. Bobby Wright is still playing baseball with the Cardinals. Eulas McCrackin hasn't changed a bit - - he's still playing ball - - with the Valley View Independents. Who would have thought Evelyn Mote would have turned out to be a great musiciang but all her music is written in flats - - - If you happen to be in New York, drop in at the Ladies Swank Shop and have made to order any of the fine wearing apparel made by the own hands of Patsy Darr and june Clar, former seamstresses of Valley View. Minnie Belle Magee is married to a famous lawyer - - she helps him in his cases. She received her experience from Valley View. Harry Wilson is the new hair stylist for the new movie production company in Jonesboro. He specializes in Home Toni. Who would have thought Ralph Christian, after ten years of steady labor, would retire from all work. Well, looks, as if Tom Metcalf is making a speech in the White House tomorrow. Of course, you know, he is president now. I attended the Rose Bowl Game in California, and Garfield Edgar is still escorting queens. 1. D. Graves is quite a prominent young lawyer - - seems he got his start in law at Valley View.
