S TE PPI NG S TQN FOREWORD When first we the Editorial Board started working on this Yearbook we thought it would be a simple task and easily accomplished Then when the subject became more familiar to us we realized that we were going into deep waters First there was the planning we had to decide what to put into the book Then there were photographs to be taken Mr Tommy Carroll of Ray Manley Studios came out to School to do this and from the many pictures he took we chose those we thought most representative After that we decided on the lay out and cut the pictures down to size At the same time there was infor mation to be collected drawings to be done and 'copy to be written all of which took imagination time and thought ln addition there was the business side of the Yearbook to be taken care of advertising space had to be sold Then came the pasting-up and AT LAST we were able to take the final step -- we sent the dummy to the printer Since there were no previous Valley yearbooks for us to work from we had to use our imagination This imagination we have used as well as we could to try to present a true and inclusive picture of Valley as we have lived it and seen it this past year ln establishing a tradition we tried to be original for originality is stimulating and much more likely to be remembered than that which conformity has outworn. This Yearbook, however, being but a first attempt, is far from perfect, and for its defects and imperfections we ask your kind indulgence. At least we, the Editorial Staff, have had fun working on this first edition of STEPPING STONES, and we hope you will enjoy it too.
