Largest, Headed by Earl Parker I I a l i -I i Ms. Fiske discusses a short story with her first period class. The English Department, Valley's largest, is headed by Earl Parker. Its 14 members teach a wide variety of subjects including English II, Senior English, Reading Experiences, Dra- matic Literature, Shakespeare, Writ- ing Experiences, Science Fiction, Gothic Novel, and Literary Back- grounds. New to the English curricu- lum this year was Magazines and Newspapers, taught by Lawrence Cook and Ethnic Literature taught by Iane Murphey. Students in Maga- zines and Newspapers studied these media carefully analyzing such things as news biases of reporters and the traditional 5-W's. In Ms. Murphey's Ethnic Litcra- ture class students read the works of such minority authors as Scott Momaday, Rudy Anaya, and Iames Baldwin.
