Teaching More Than One Mr. Charles T. McCreary has been with Valley for eight years as a Speech teacher. Mr. McCreary was born in Pitts- burg, Pennsylvania and holds a BA in drama and a MA in Education from the UNM. He sponsors the Speech Club and is in the Air National Guard. Mr. Thomas McMullen has been at Valley for six years. Mr. McMullen, who was born in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, teaches English. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Univer- sity of New Mexico. His hobbies include reading, swimming and golfing. Miss Martha Maxwell is an English teacher at Valley and has been here for nine years. Mrs. Maxwell was born in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Her favorite hob- bies are traveling, photog- raphy, and painting. She re- ceived a Bachelor of Arts degree at William Jewell College and a Master of Arts at the University of California. Mr. Sam Malone is com- pleting his first year at Val- ley. Mr. Malone, who teaches Vocational Rehabilitation, was born in Conlen, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Science from West Texas University and the Univer- sity of New Mexico. His hobbies include all sports. Mr. Roger E. Mikeal, a new- comer to Valley, teaches Plane Geometry and Algebra II. He was born in Amarillo, Texas, and raised in Oklahoma. He re- ceived his BS in Education from Southeastern State College. His hobby is playing tennis. 16 Mr. Michael M. Mills is com- pleting his first year at Valley. Mr. Mills, who was born in Waynoke, Oklahoma, and raised in Amarillo. Texas, teaches General Math and Algebra. He received his Bachelor of Science from Texas Technological Col- lege. Mr. Frank L. Montoya, who teaches U. S. History, is completing his eighth year at Valley. He comes from San Luis, Colorado, and re- ceived his BS from Adams State College. Mr. Montoya enjoys fishing and hunting as his hobbies. Mr. Frederick M. Myers has been at Valley for ten years and is one of the charter members of Valley. Mr. Myers, who was born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, teaches Senior English and spon- sors the Chess Club. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English from Indiana University and a Master of Arts in School Ad- ministration from the Univer- sity of New Mexico. His hobbies include travel, reading, and ten- nis. Mr. Myers is also Chair- man of the English Department.

Mrs. Maxine Hansen has been with Valley for four years teaching Girls ' Physical Edu- cation and Health. Born in Au- dubon, Iowa, Mrs. Hansen ob- tained her Bachelor of Arts at State University of Iowa, Iowa City. Her hobbies include sew- ing and sports. Mr. George D. Head has been teaching Vocational Agriculture here at Valley for seven years and also sponsors the F. F. A. He was born in Pollok, Texas, and has received his Bache- lor ' s degree in Agriculture and a Master in Education. His hobbies include hunting and fishing. Mrs. Beatrice B. Holmes, in her first year at Val- ley, teaches typing and General Business. Born in Albuquerque, she at- tended the University of New Mexico where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration Among her interests are swimming, gardening, and corporate accounting. Three of her favorite in- terests are her three chil- dren. Mrs. Jane A. Hughes has been with Valley for three years, teaching German. French, and English. Born in Oklahoma City, Mrs. Hughes obtained her Bach- elor of Arts at the Univer- sity of Illinois and Master of Arts at the University of Arizona. Her hobbies in- clude gardening, reading, and cooking. Mr. Bert C. Jones, Jr., teach- ing Typewriting, General Business, and Bookkeeping, has been with Valley for two years. Born in Tularosa, New Mexico, he received his Bachelor of Arts at Eastern New Mexico University, Master of Business Admin- istration at the University of Arizona and is now engaged in graduate study toward a doctorate at Indiana Univer- sity. Mr. Jones ' hobbies in- clude sports, flying, coin collecting, and reading. Mr. Victor Ron Landers has been with Valley for four years, teaching World Geography and Physical Education. He is also assist- ant basketball and head football coach. Born in Sul- livan, Illinois, Mr. Landers received both his Bachelor and Master of Science at Eastern Illinois University. Mr. Joe H. Liebert, who has been at Valley for nine years, teaches drafting. Mr. Lie- bert attended the University of New Mexico, where he obtained both his BS and MA. Raised in Taos, New Mexico, Mr. Liebert enjoys raising Old English and Ori- ental exhibition fowl. Mr. Carl D. Lobley was born in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, but received his Bachelor of Science at Tex- as Technological College. He has attended Baylor Uni- versity, New Mexico State University, and the L ' niver- sity of Arizona. In his first year at Valley, he is teach- ing Algebra and General Math. Mrs. Owens, who was born in San Saba, Texas, and raised in Hurley, New Mexico, re- ceived a BS in Home Eco- nomics from N.M. State Uni- versity and a Master of Edu- cation in Home Economics Education from Colorado State University. Sewing, knitting, skiing, swimming and leather work are Mrs. Owens ' hobbies. She has been at Valley for ten years. fr. Manual Orosco, in his fifth ear at Valley, teaches Driver ' raining and Physical Educa- on. He was born in Prescott, j-izona, but received his BS rom the University of New lexico. Mrs. Catherine S. Overbey has been with Valley for two years, and teaches Algebra I and Plane Geometry. She was born in South Orange, New Jersey, and received her BA at Mount Holyoke College, and a MA from New Jersey State Teachers College at Montclair. Mrs. Overbey sponsors the Safety Council and the Math Club. In her spare time, she likes to knit, swim, and travel. Mr. George T Prigmore is completing his second year at Valley. Mr. . Prigmore, who was born in Fort Worth, Texas, teaches both English and Chemistry and sponsors the Saga, (he Science Fair, and the Shield. He holds a Bachelor and a Master of Arts in English and a Bach- elor of Science in Chemistry ' from Texas Technological College, and a Master of Sci- ence from the University of Chicago. He is also half way through his doctoral pro- gram. Mr. Prigmore ' s inter- ests include ice skating, fish- ing, skiing, Bridge, and pipe organ design and construc- tion. vlrs. Nancy Lasell Rector is inishing her third year at Val- zy. Mrs. Rector, who was born n Doylestown, Pennsylvania, ut raised in Old Fort, North Carolina, received her Bachelor f Arts from the University of Jorth Carolina. Swimming and orseback riding are her hob- ies. Mr. Winfield R. Rummell has been with Valley for two years, teaching General Met- al I and Machine Metals II. Mr. Rummell, raised in Cal- ifornia and Pa., received his Bachelor of Arts at -Colo- rado State College. His hob- bies include custom gun- smithing, handloading, big game hunting, bench rest shooting, and tennis. Miss Charlotte G. Sampley has been here with Valley for five years, teaching Typ- ing I and II, and Shorthand. She also sponsors Sigma Beta Epsilon. Raised in Portales, New Mexico, Miss Sampley received her BA and MA at Eastern New Mexico Uni- versity, Portales, New Mex- ico. Her hobbies include reading, Bridge, and sewing. Mr. Sidney Sanchez has been with Valley for the past five years, teaching Al- gebra I -and Math fl. Mr Sanchez is also the sponsoi of the Mu Alpha Nu. the Math Club. He was bom in San Luis. Colorado and re- ceived his BA at Adams State College, Alamosa, Colorado. His hobbies in- clude playing the guitar, reading, and golfing. 17
