Well assited by Roger Reinecke, Logan's squad is joint favorite to win the CIF playoffs for the third straight year. Strength and ability in the key central positions have given the team a formidable look. Seniors Jim Smidt and Brian lVlacky alternate in goal and really challenge each other's ability. Steve Atchison and Kiko Salazar, also seniors, are as good as any back pair in the San Diego area. Gary Reinecke, sharing the title of team captain with Atchison, has managed to escape the injuries that have plagued him in the past and is one of the standouts in the entire CIF section. Up front, 6'1 Jim Daniels has shown us why he was on the U.S. National Jr. Team last summer. Add to this the dribbling skills of lVlarty Sanger, the emergence of Dave Busch as an outstanding fullback and the solid work of Tom Gonzales, Dave Holmes and Jim Nicolau and you have an excellent combination. With an eye to the future, iwe lose all of the above players this yearl, Logan has been grooming some promising freshmen. Renato Capobianco has positively sparked on the right wing and Bobby lVlundinger, until his unfortunate knee injury, showed us why he'll be quite a player in the years to come. Pat Atchison and Lance Sevier are also two for the future. The burden of responsibility next year will fall on juniors Russ Kimler and lChooch' Sanger, who, with Bobby Gomez, a sophomore, are valuable assets to the team. Coach George Logan 93
