nf ' ,r f , ,gg giiifgp nfl iw , f Ni W M .ll .,. --ved Jr, , liWe Can Because We Believe We Can -an inspiration which has guided the Girls' Swim Team for three years, has continued to motivate this team in 1977. Clearly the strongest team we've ever had, Valhalla's girls have set the highest of all goals for this school year. While it is still early in the season and difhcult to assure our success, I feel very conhdent in predicting this to be our most successful season. The outstanding performance and recent victory at the Coronado Pentathlon paved our way into county recognition, A victory against Grossmont will assure the League Championship, a title which has eluded Valhalla for 3 years. Yet, the feeling of companionship, togetherness and the importance of meeting every challenge as one team remains the most important outcome of the season. With the help of team captains Julie Drake, lVlari Lewis, Shari Kennard and assistants Linda IVleyer and Deidee Palmer, the team has already shown the qualities and determination needed to be a championship team. For the last three years the total team record has been very impressive. The C team has yet to be defeated in dual meet competition, winning the title for 3 straight years. The Junior Varsity team has only lost one dual meet and will be striving to capture the team award this year. The Varsity team has only lost 3 dual meets, always placing second in the conference. With the addition of new blood and some outstanding incoming Freshmen, the team is capable of achieving the ultimate goal of a CIF championship. This year's team is clearly the most positive team we've ever had.
