' -fi - .A A X The 1978 Norsemen Swimming teams vvill have provided the Valhalla I community with plenty of excitement. Led by seniors Tim Bottger Csprintsl, Jon uOhio Durant Csprintsl, lVlark Fox Cbaclqstrokel, Dave lVleyers Cbutterflyi, Craig Sandlin Cbutterfly and I.lVl.l, Bob Satterlee Cbreaststrokel, and Gerry Sapper Cdivingl this team vvill attempt to defend their League Championship. As of this date, the Norsemen have I already posted an impressive victory over a strong Grossmont team. Outstanding performances by Sam Piclcslay C11l, Tim Shumate C11l, Bill Cossolias C1Ol, and Jim Gallup C109 . have certainly set a trend of competiveness that vvill aid the entire team throughout the season. The Norsemen have scheduled perennial powers Fallbrook, Vista, Patrick Henry C1977 San Diego C.I.F. Championsl, and Hilltop. Hovvever, the ultimate aim ofthe Norsemen vvill be preparing forthe League and C.I.F. Finals. The medley relay team of Tim Shumate Cbackstrokel, Sam Pickslay Cbreaststrokel, Jim Gallup Cbutterflyl and Tim Bottger Ctreestylel have already established themselves as the team to beat in the C.I.F. by post-an impressive early season time of 1:43.2, 4 seconds from High School All American consideration time. The Junior Varsity squad will be aiming for their third consecutive Grossmont League dual meet championship. A talented group of Sophomores will push the Juniors for top seeding in theconference meet.
