Our golf team this year is extremely strong. Having vvon the league last year, and having lost no one to graduation, vve have everyone back from that championship team. Robert Spiegler, last year's most valuable player, is undoubtedly the team's best player. He is always finding ways to improve himself through constant practice. This becomes apparent vvhen he plays, since one can never tell hovv he is doing by the iook on his face. Bob is insatiable. Dave DeKock is playing the role of a leader for the second year in a row as the team's captain. He has the most match experience, having played in more tournaments than anyone from Valhalla. Brent Hillier and Bob Pastore are tvvo Juniors vvho also have a lot of match experience, Brent and Bob are not in the habit of bragging about their golfing abilities, but both are indispensible, excellent golfers, and very modest individuals. lVlike Long, a Sophomore, joins the above four players in having teed it up in the CIF playofs last year. Jim Hall, a newcomer to Valhalla golf, is sure to break into the starting lineup, and has the ability to beat anyone at any time. Other returning lettermen are the long-hitting lVlark Villarino, the gambling hustler Joel Fine, and the precise, one-putting Dave Lloyd. Dave Reed and Stu Wells, tvvo other long- hitters, are making strong bids for positions this year. Valhalla is forming somevvhat of a dynasty in golf. We are very conhdent about our success, and our only problem should be that of getting our oversized heads through the shoulder straps of our golf bags.
