Pyle: Now I'd like to show you some of the sports that took place during the spring months. lVlany of these sports, such as swimming, basketball, and baseball were played earlier in the year by the opposite sex. Zulini: I am greatly disheartened! I was hoping to view some divergent games, but all that you have to bestow upon us are reproductions! Zorphus: Do any new sports materialize during the spring-time mensal? Pyle: of course. There' track, golf, and gymnastics. Zorphus: Jim Nastiks? Is he some sort of athletic advocate similar to the patriarch of football, Pop Warner? Pyle: Oh no! Gymnastics is a popular girls' sport at the Enterprise involving bars, mats, beams and horses. Zulini: I find this sport rather hard to fathom, Comrade Pyle. Do the gymnasts ride horses over beams and spend time at bars? Pyle: lVlaybe you'll understand Track and Field a little better. This sport is divided into running events and held events. The held events include such things as the long Jump, high jump, and discus. Zulini: lVlost of thos events are self- explanatory. The Hdiscuss , however, leaves me in a state of befuddlement. Pyle: How so? Zulini: I do not see why 'ldiscussing something would be considered a sport. Shouldn't this type of verbalizing be a classihcation of speech? Pyle: The DISCUS is a round and flat piece of hard rubber resembling a plate. The athlete spins around several times and hurls it into the air, striving for height and distance. Zulini: How foolish of mel I assumed that the pair of vocables were homonyms, when, in actuality, they are totally contradistinctive terms with dissimilar denotations and Pyle: Enough grammar! I still want to show you our championship golf team. Zorphus: Golf? Pyle: Golf is a sport that involves hitting a tiny white ball into a hole. It requires a minimal amount of energy but a lot of concentration. Zorphus: Now that's a sport for me , . . a brain-game that doesn't tend to over-fatigue.
