Councils accentuate value of oneness. Functioning as a direct line of communi- cation, the Student Council served both stu- dents and administration. It undertook more responsibilities in school affairs by assuming a more active role in various projects. Among these were sponsoring Home- coming activities, planning and supervising class officer election procedures, operating the concession stand at all football games, giving a faculty Christmas tea, and presen- ting a Christmas emphasis program to the student body. During spring semester, a School Beautification Week, and a St. Val- entine's Dance were held. To round out the year's work, the Council conducted Fresh- man Orientation and directed Senior Week. Officers and members attended county, district, and state meetings; workshops; and conventions. Climaxing convention cam- paigning was the election of Sally Freeman as State Second Vice-President. The Human Relations Council, cooper- ating with the Student Council, sought to cultivate an atmosphere of unity among students.
